Oh Baby, sweet baby!

Hello my quilty friends, Today's quilt is a baby quilt. These quilt are so fun and sweet! This sweet quilt is for a little bundle of joy for one of my co- workers. I used the pattern from Ben Darby- "New Rising Star".
All I got from the Mother to be is they were looking into the colors Gray and blue. I hope she likes this!
I love how Creative Stitching services quilt this for me. Above is my favorite block, just love the planet!
I used a sweet and soft flannel for the backing.
My label and a shot of my binding.
Such a sweet fun little finish. Thanks for stopping by. Until I see you again wishing you Quilty Hugs~Heide

Renegade bag.

Hello my quilty friends. Today I have a new project that I have been working on. In my last post I mentioned that I have been making bags, and having fun making them!

Today I have my first official bag that I made all by myself and a bit of help from Sara over at Sew Sweetness. Sara has some wonderful patterns and the best part is you get step by step video instructions when you buy the patterns. You can work at your own pace. This bag took me about two days. One to cut and I also started to sew it and the second day I worked on the construction for about half of the day and it was done.
I even have two inside zipper pockets.
A double zipper pull for the top,
and this cute little handmade tag.
I am super happy with how this turned out. Today I am going to empty out my bag that I am using now and fill this one up so I can start to use it.
Thanks for stopping by and until I see you again wishing you Quilty Hugs~Heide

Bear paw

Hello my quilt friends! Are you a lover of Red and white quilts? I am. Red is one of my favorite colors and as a bonus I always think of my Dad when I see something red, because it was also his favorite color. I remember him always wanting to get red cars, because of it being his favorite color.
The Bear Paw is such a classic quilt block. I started this about two or more years ago, WOW! I was thinking it was a year ago. I watched the tutorial over at Fat Quarter shop and fell in love with this traditional block with a slight twist.
I am going to let you in on some secrets.
I had a few problems with this block, one I  ran out of the red...and could not find the same color. Heck.... it was put away for so long I forgot what red I used, LOL! So on my trip to MSQ I took a swatch and found the match. As I am writing this I hope no one asked what the red was because I Still did not write it down! I know it is a Moda solid and has red in the name.
The second problem was the white.  I was mostly working on this at night in my sewing room. I used a second white that I did not realize until my fantastic Longarmer pointed it out to me! So I told her to keep it just between her and I! It is such a subtle different and you can only see it in the right or wrong light.
For the backing I used a Red Grunge which I also had enough for the binding.
and here is a close up of the backing and the beauitful quilting.
I believe the quilting pattern is called "Bota buddy"and the thread color is white. This quilt measures 65 X 86. A nice size to cuddle up with on the couch. Even with the few problems that I had with this quilt I still love it, and I smile when I look at it because I remember my Dad and the problems that I had with this cute yet simple quilt.
That all for now. I have a few more projects that I have been working on. You can see peeks over on instagram. I have been having fun making bags and pouches. Which have been taking me away form my quilts but, such fun to make!
Until I see you again, Wishing you Quilty Hugs~Heide

Magnolia mystery quilt 2018

Hello my quilty friends.  Today's quilt is a Meadow Mist designs-Mystery quilt. This one is the Magnolia Mystery quilt 2017-2018.
If you have never have done a mystery quilt have to! They are so much fun watching the quilt come to life with each months new instructions. This is the 2nd mystery quilt that I have done by Cheryl, Here is my first.
My husband helping .
Have you ever made a quilt and went MEH....your were proud of it but not crazy about it. This was my MEH quilt....until I got it quilted. Thanks Diane @ Creative Stitching Services!
Now I can not stop looking at it. I love how it turned out. The backing was a perfect choice in my mind.
I used fabric that I had in my stash- Olives flower market. I started this quilt working on the queen size pattern. As you can see in the top photo, it is long and skinny. I decided to make it a twin quilt instead.
Another part of this quilt is I bought pink fabric for the binding at the last minute decided to use black fabric for the binding. I think it was a great choice!
I am now looking forward to another one of Cheryl's mystery quilts. I wonder what her 2018-2019 pattern is going to be.
Thanks for stopping by and until I see you again, Wishing you Quilty Hugs~Heide

Wayward transparency quilt along finish.

Hello my quilty friends, I am super excited about this finish! I love quilt alongs....I think they are fun and have always loved the finished project and this one was no exception. So here it is...(drum roll please) Wayward transparency quilt by Yvonne @Quilting Jetgirl.
I love how this turned out and the quilting is just my favorite! My dear friend Diane quilted this for me and when I asked to center the medallion on the empty blue center area. she did! We also used double batting, to give it the extra puff. My first time and it will not be my last using double batting.
The three kona cotton blues that I used are- Pruissian( dark blue), Mediterranean ( med ), and Lagoon( lightest and binding).
and for the backing I used Modern marks Herringbone.
Did I mention that I Love the quilting!
Oh that perfectly centered lovely!
One last look from one of the windows in my house, ignore the snow on the quilt the dog thought it was play time and tried to run over my quilt.
Thanks for stopping by and until I see you again...wishing you Quilty Hugs~Heide

2018 small finish and a clean up

Hello my quilty friends!
Today I have my first finish for 2018.
It is little about 16" x15", but fun and a scrap buster. I spent the first few weeks of 2018 cleaning and tidying up my sewing room. After trying to get things done for the was a mess. Now it is looking better. I now have 8- 20 gallon bins for my scraps and I have them organized by colors.
Here is what they look like and I am happy, now when I do paper piecing I can just pick the bin and scrounge through that rather than a big basket full of scraps.
there is even room for more scraps.
I also got rid of a dresser, because my sewing room was the guest room, and added a bookcase.
I am so happy with now feels bigger in there.
Let me get back to my finish.

I have had this pattern for a while and yesterday I saw it on someone else blog as a UFO, it reminded me that I have it and I got to work!  Pattern by Quite play pattern called Geometric Sewing machine.
It was a fun paper pieced pattern and love how it turned out.
Did I mention that I used some scraps....I do need to use more. Thinking about crumb sewing, I don't know how long its been around but this looks like a good way to use up scraps. If you have not heard about it check out you-tube and search crumb sewing thousands of videos pop up.
I even used scrap bindings for my binding.
I did an easy diagonal quilting on it, about 1.25 inch wide. This little cutie will be a great addition to my cleaner sewing room. Thanks for stopping by and until I see you again....wishing you Quilty Hugs~ Heide
